Sonos lists Audible as an on-demand audiobook service with direct control. The exact labels, service availability, and authentication screens can change, so follow the current prompt in the app rather than relying on an old screenshot or a third-party workaround.
Play from Audible
Open the title first, then hand playback to the Sonos speaker.
- Turn on the Sonos device and open the Audible title. Start from the player for the title you intend to hear, not from a store or search result.
- Choose Audible's device-connection control. Audible's current Sonos instructions call this the Bluetooth icon. Select the available Sonos device from the list shown by the app.
- Read and approve the authorization request. Audible says the connection asks permission to access bookmarks and current position information, play titles, browse the catalog, and list Audible titles. Approve only after confirming that the Sonos device and Audible account are the ones you expect.
- Confirm playback before you leave the room. Start with a familiar section of the book and check the selected Sonos room. If no speaker appears, use the Sonos-app route below rather than repeatedly changing audiobook settings.
Add Audible to Sonos
Connect the service once, then authorize the Audible account in the flow Sonos presents.
In the current Sonos app for iOS or Android, open Account, select Content Services, then under Connected Services choose Add Content Service. Select Audible, choose Add to Sonos, and complete the on-screen authorization. Audible confirms that this sign-in step is required after you add the service.
If you use the Sonos S1 Controller, Sonos documents a separate path: open Settings, select Services & Voice, choose Add a Serviceunder Music & Content, select Audible, then follow the account prompts. Keep the routes separate: the menu wording differs because these are different Sonos apps.
Before adding an account you do not recognize, stop and verify it. Sonos says multiple accounts for the same service can be added, which makes intentional account selection especially important in a shared household.
Control limits
A working speaker connection does not make every Audible player feature available.
Audible says narration speed, Timer, Bookmarks, chapter navigation, and Stats and Badges are not currently available when using Sonos. Treat that as a route limitation before treating it as a fault. If narration speed or a sleep timer matters for this session, set expectations before moving playback to Sonos and check the current official support page for changes.

When it does not work
Check the route, authorization, and selected device before buying or downloading again.
Sonos does not appear in Audible:Confirm the speaker is on, then start from the player and use the device-connection control again. Audible's route requires choosing a Sonos device from the available list and approving its permissions. If it still is not available, try adding Audible as a Sonos content service instead; do not assume the title itself is missing.
Audible is present in Sonos but will not open your Library: Revisit the authorization flow and make sure you signed in to the intended Audible account. Sonos directs people who cannot find or add a service to its current content-service troubleshooting, while Audible says the service must be authorized after it is added.
A title or feature looks different from the phone app: First distinguish access from control. Verify the title is in the Audible Library and that its membership or purchase access is current; then remember that several player controls are unavailable on Sonos.
