These put a compatible Audible interface on the vehicle display. They are useful when your car supports them, but they are not required to hear the phone app through the stereo.
Before the drive
Set up access, audio, and offline playback while parked.
- Open Audible and sign in first. Google says Android Auto media apps need a sign-in on the phone before Android Auto starts. The same pre-drive check avoids discovering an account or Library issue at the dashboard.
- Choose the connection your vehicle supports. For Bluetooth, turn it on and make the phone discoverable, activate the car's Bluetooth, then pair. For USB or AUX, confirm the car has the matching audio port before connecting the cable.
- Find the exact title in your Library. Do this before you need it. On Android Auto or CarPlay, Audible says a missing title on the car display can still be started from the phone app while parked.
- Download before a weak-signal route. Audible advises downloading titles to the Library ahead of time for offline listening. Its offline download guide explains the app steps and the difference between a purchase and a membership-included title.
- Start playback and set a comfortable volume before moving. Audible warns not to interact with the app while driving. Use only the controls permitted by local law and traffic rules, and stop safely for any change that needs visual attention.

Apple CarPlay:Audible's current instructions start by connecting an iPhone to the car with USB, selecting CarPlay on the display if its home screen does not appear, opening Audible, and choosing a title. Apple notes that some cars also support wireless CarPlay; whether that option is available depends on the vehicle. Apple also says only CarPlay-compatible apps appear on the display, and Siri can control CarPlay through the steering-wheel voice button, the display, or “Hey Siri” when the vehicle supports it.
Android Auto:Audible directs listeners to connect a phone by USB to an Android Auto-compatible stereo, then continue existing playback or open Audible from the car display. Google says compatible media apps can be chosen from the display's app launcher and can be controlled with a voice assistant. If Audible does not appear, first confirm that the app is signed in on the phone and that the vehicle supports Android Auto; car-specific setup can differ.
CarPlay and Android Auto are different from an AUX connection. An AUX cable can carry Audible audio from the phone, but Audible specifically says it does not provide either dashboard system. Choose it when simple wired audio is enough, not when you need the car display's app controls.
Simplified phone controls
Car Mode can reduce the on-screen choices, but it is not a substitute for safe driving.
Audible's Car Mode is available in its iOS and Android apps. It offers a simplified player with play or pause, a 30-second rewind, bookmarking, and a voice-control option. To turn it on, open the player and select the Car Mode icon. Audible also says Automatic Car Mode can launch when the phone connects to the car through Bluetooth; the setting is under Profile, the settings gear, then Player.
If Car Mode is not the right fit, use your vehicle's built-in controls or voice controls only when they are lawful and safe. Do not treat a simplified screen, CarPlay, or Android Auto as permission to browse for a title while the vehicle is moving.

Title missing from a dashboard display? Audible says to start it from the phone app if it is not shown in CarPlay or Android Auto. Confirm the title is present in the Audible Library and the phone is signed in before trying to find it again on the car screen.
Playback stops where coverage is poor? That is usually a streaming-versus-download question, not a car-connection question. Download the title in the Audible app before leaving service, then check its completion before the trip.
