The most direct way to listen is the Audible app on a compatible phone, tablet, Mac, or Apple Watch. Audible also supports audio on selected Kindle e-readers and offers AudibleSync on Windows 10 and 11 for transfers to listed MP3 or accessibility devices. Compatibility is not the same as access: sign in with the Amazon account that holds the title, then check whether the title is purchased or included through a membership.

Audible lists Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later and Apple Watch running watchOS 11 or later. Confirm the model and current OS, then use the device-specific setup route.
E-reader or transfer device
Selected Kindles and AudibleSync devices
Audio-capable Kindle support depends on the model and generation. For compatible MP3 or accessibility devices, AudibleSync is the Windows transfer route rather than a general computer playback app.
Kindle check
A Kindle must be one of Audible's listed audio-capable models.
Audible's current list names Kindle Oasis (8th generation or later), Kindle (8th generation or later), Kindle Paperwhite (10th generation or later), Kindle Scribe, and Kindle Colorsoft. That is not a promise that every Kindle handles audio: check the exact generation and Bluetooth-audio setup before you buy headphones or rely on the e-reader for a trip.

Account and Library
Use the same Amazon account, then let the Library—not a device download—tell you what you can play.
Audible says an Amazon account is enough to listen to free or purchased titles in the app; an Audible membership is not required for those titles. Membership access is a separate question for titles included in a plan. A downloaded file does not change that status, so check the title's access type before expecting it to remain available after a plan change.
Audible also says its app can automatically sync listening position across devices. If a handoff does not update, start by confirming you are signed in to the same Amazon account and that the app's listening-position sync setting is on. Our listening-position sync guide covers the current check.
Windows and accessibility devices
AudibleSync is a transfer path for specific compatible devices.
Audible says AudibleSync runs on Windows 10 and 11 and can download titles for transfer to compatible MP3 and accessibility devices. Its current list includes Bones Milestone 212 and 312, plus Victor Reader Stream 2 and 3. AudibleSync downloads save to the computer for transfer; Audible says they can be played only after transfer to a compatible MP3 player or accessibility device.
Before you choose this route, confirm that your exact device appears in Audible's current list and review the transfer steps. It is more specialized than listening in the Audible app, but it can be the relevant route when an app-first phone or tablet is not the right device.

Compatibility questions that matter before setup.
Can I listen to Audible on more than one compatible device?
Yes. Audible says the app can sync your listening position across devices. Sign in with the same Amazon account and confirm the sync setting; device availability and account access are separate from each other.
Does an older device keep working if it cannot install the current Audible app?
Audible says an older device that cannot support the latest app can still be used to listen through another compatible device or the Audible Cloud Player. Do not treat that as a support guarantee for the older device—verify current compatibility before relying on it.
Can I listen offline on every compatible device?
Not necessarily. Audible distinguishes app downloads, browser streaming, and AudibleSync transfers. Check the route for the specific device, then complete any app download before you lose service. Our offline download guide explains the app route.
