For a sleep stop, Audible documents asking Alexa to stop reading after a stated number of minutes—after playback has started.

Keep the request functional rather than relying on a catch-all phrase: say the title name, add “from Audible,” and then use an explicit playback action. This is particularly useful for books whose titles overlap with music, films, or podcasts. Exact voice recognition, availability, and results can vary by device, language, profile, and marketplace.

Important limits

Not every Audible feature carries over to Alexa.

Audible lists clips and bookmarks, ratings and reviews, the listening log, and marking a title finished as unavailable through Alexa. That does not mean the title is missing; it means those actions need to happen in a different Audible surface where they are offered.

Podcast support also depends on where you use Alexa. Audible says an Echo device can play an Audible podcast by request, but Alexa voice commands inside the Audible iOS and Android apps do not currently support podcasts. If you are using the in-app feature, keep the app open; Audible says it will not respond when the screen is locked or you are using another app.

When Alexa cannot find or play a title

Alexa has the wrong Library or no Audible titles: Confirm the Alexa device is registered to the same Amazon account as Audible. Audible says that if the Audible and Amazon usernames differ, combining the accounts can allow Alexa to play the titles. The device will not respond or playback will not begin: Check that it has power and that the Alexa companion app does not show a connection error. Audible also points listeners to Amazon Family settings when a household profile may be affecting access. If the title is not in the Audible Library itself, check access and marketplace first rather than treating an Alexa request as proof of ownership.
