How do you change your Audible password?

If you can still sign in, change it from the Audible website through Account details, Settings, and Edit, then follow the Amazon settings prompts. If you cannot sign in, use the official password-recovery route with the email address or mobile number linked to the Amazon account. Do not create another Audible account just to replace a password.

Quick answer

Use account settings when you can sign in; use password assistance when you cannot.

Audible's current US Help guidance separates these two routes. On its website, signed-in listeners can open their name, Account details, Settings, and Edit; Audible says the account-information edit continues in Amazon settings. For a forgotten password or lost access, Audible directs listeners to password assistance, where they enter the email address or mobile phone number associated with the Amazon account to receive a reset link by email.

Choose the right route

The sign-in state determines the next step.

You can sign in

Change the password in settings

Start from the signed-in Audible website. This is the route for replacing a known password while retaining the existing account, Library, and membership.

You cannot sign in

Reset it through password assistance

Use the recovery route with the Amazon-linked email or mobile number. Wait for the official email and follow its reset flow rather than repeatedly guessing passwords.

A password change is not an email-address change, a marketplace move, or a new account registration. Check which account holds your Library before editing anything. If the account email itself needs updating, use our Audible email-address guide after you can sign in.

When you can sign in

Change the password from the existing account's website settings.

  1. Sign in to Audible's website. Confirm that this is the account with the Library and membership you mean to keep.
  2. Open Account details and Settings. Select your name in the top navigation, then select Account details on desktop and Settings.
  3. Select Edit and reauthenticate if prompted. Audible says it may ask you to sign in again before you can update account information.
  4. Follow the Amazon settings handoff. Audible says its desktop account-information edit occurs through Amazon settings. Choose the password option displayed for the signed-in account, complete any verification, and save the change.
  5. Check the result without registering again. After confirmation, sign in normally with the replacement password on a trusted device. If a device needs a fresh sign-in, use the same account rather than creating another Audible account.

Audible says account information cannot currently be updated in its app, so use a browser for this route. The labels, verification checks, and available options can change; treat the signed-in account screen as the source of truth before saving.

When you are locked out

Reset a forgotten password through the official recovery path.

  1. Start with Audible's account-recovery guidance. It links to the Amazon password-assistance page for a lost or forgotten password.
  2. Enter the Amazon-linked email or mobile number. Audible says the recovery route uses the email address or mobile phone number associated with the Amazon account.
  3. Use the password-reset email from Amazon. Follow the official reset link delivered to the account email, then create and save a replacement password only on the verified page.
  4. Return to Audible with the existing account. Sign in to confirm the Library and membership appear before making any unrelated account change or repurchasing a title.

Audible notes that passwords are case-sensitive. Its sign-in troubleshooting also says that, after some recent app sign-outs, an error can trigger an Amazon email with a one-time password that is valid for 10 minutes. Use only the prompt and email you initiated; if the expected recovery message does not arrive, start again from Audible's official Help page rather than following an unexpected message.

Avoid common detours

Keep password recovery separate from other account problems.

  • Do not create a second account: a new registration does not reset the password on the account that holds your Library.
  • Do not change marketplace to fix sign-in: marketplace selection affects regional access and catalog availability, not password recovery. Use the marketplace guide only when your country or regional account route is the real issue.
  • Do not assume a payment update changes access: billing details and sign-in credentials are different settings. For a card problem, see the Audible payment-method guide.
  • Do not disable account protection as a shortcut: Audible says Amazon Two-Step Verification applies to Audible sign-in. Review its current setup or recovery instructions in Amazon's Login & security settings if a verification factor is the obstacle.

Common questions

Changing an Audible password, clarified.

Can I change my Audible password in the app?

No. Audible says account information cannot currently be updated in its app. Use the Audible website to start the signed-in settings route, or use the official recovery route if you cannot sign in.

What if I forgot my Audible password?

Use Audible's account-recovery guidance and the linked password-assistance route. Audible says to enter the Amazon-linked email address or mobile phone number so Amazon can send a password-reset link by email.

Will changing my password remove my Audible books?

A password update is an account-credential change, not a new account. Complete it from the account that already contains your Library, then verify that same account after signing in. Do not create another account as part of the reset.
