How to change Audible narration speed

Adjust the title you are hearing now.

1. Select the title you want to play. Open it from your Audible Library and bring up the player.
2. Select Speed at the bottom of the player. Audible identifies this as the per-title narration-speed control.
3. Choose the setting you want. Audible's default is 1.0x; its control lets you choose a slower or faster narration speed for the title.
4. Set a default separately when needed. For future listens, select Profile, Settings, Player, Narration Speed, choose a setting, then select Close.

Browser and device differences

Cloud Player uses its own player control; defaults can differ by device.

Audible gives a separate route for Cloud Player: start the title, select Play, choose the Speed icon at the bottom of the Player, select a setting, then close the control. Do not assume that a browser session and an app setting expose the same controls in the same place.

Audible also says a default narration speed can be different on different devices—for example, one default on a phone and another on a tablet. If you use more than one device, set the default where you actually begin new listens, then adjust individual titles only when needed.
